Especially the Cadillac is known for its heritage of logos. Let’s see this in detail:
Design Elements of Cadillac logo
Shape of the Cadillac Logo
The Cadillac logo consists of ” coat of arms”. The top section of the emblem contains a crown which depicts the six ancient counts of France. Above every tip, a pearl is placed which graphically represents integrity from the royal counts of Toulouse – a cultural center of medieval Europe. The Cadillac logo has undergone several modifications over the past 112 years. Nonetheless, it remains one of the most famous and memorable car logos ever created.
Colors of the Cadillac Logo
Yellow, black, red, blue grey and silver are some of the colors used in the Cadillac logo. All these colors represent excellence, grandeur, creativity, passion, reliability and business responsibility of the company.
Evolution of Cadillac logos
Cadillac has a great history of logos since 1902 and modified its logo over eleven times. Cadillac logo is actually the emblem of the French explore, named Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac who founded Detroit. The emblem represents the family crest that was a part of the coat of arms. The emblem has one set of three Marlette birds on side of the coat of arms to signify nobility on his mother and three Marlette on the other side to signify his father side, the birds are placed to signify the holy trinity. The Cadillac logo is different from all logos while others elevate their brand, it elevates its heritage. The coat of arms has surrounded the emblem for more than 111 years. so, that the logo is all about its “coat of arms” but the new design is without it.
The crest has a heritage of Evolution and the reason to remove the coat of arms is to move forward the brand with some design which reflects upcoming vehicles. The change of logo in certain cases were that Cadillac implemented its Art and science. The intention of Cadillac is clear, it wants to change the logo – to reflect its growth in market. The revised logo first appeared on the Elimiraj concept in 2013 and during the meeting Cadillac stated “The crest remains a consistent symbol of Cadillac and our core values. Cadillac aim was to evolve the logo design to incorporate with the new vehicles. The core graphics and lettering and color elements in the logo preserve its strong brand recognition while the geometrical grid and shape of crest retain the iconic crest and replace the “cost of arms”.The newly designed logo matches the lower, longer and leaner cars which are going to be released by Cadillac by the end of 2014.
LOGO TO REFLECT THE BRAND GROWTH
The new cars such as the award winning new CTS sedan and ATS COUPE will begin to appear on roads by wearing the new Cadillac crest logo to reflect its brand. Eventually, the rest of model range will also adopt the modernized badge, including the 2015 Cadillac CTS.
In the new emblem, the CTS receives an all-new grille with horizontal shutter-like slats, bringing it closer in line with the ATS Coupe. The emblem has also been integrated into the back and lays over the chrome strip which runs above the license plate surround, rather than cutting into it like before.
The facelift for the 2015 model year may put the design of the CTS closer in line to its high performance sibling due next year, the 2016 CTS-V. It is not clear when the face lifted CTS will arrive in showrooms, though we anticipate it won’t be long after the ATS Coupe.
BOTTOM LINE:
Over the years of the Cadillac journey, the crest has been the main aspect of Cadillac history. They made all their changes to coat of arms and made the crest “sleeker and streamlined” to suit the upcoming brand new cars and to reflect it growth. The logo is about sportiness and casual, to start an era of luxury cars on roads.
This year world’s first premium ATS- COUPE with range technology will wear this emblem.
