Upcoming new India cars 2015 – Part 1

2015 is almost here, it’s time for new resolutions, excitement, and the joy of saying “Namaste” to new cars.

This article should give you a sneak-peek into some of the most exciting budget friendly and mid budget upcoming new India cars 2015.

1. Tata Bolt:

As a part of Tata motor’s New Year resolution, the company aims at revamping its brand image in the country.  With the task of paving a path to a new direction, Tata motors had previewed the Tata Bolt at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show.

The Bolt is going to replace the Tata Vista. Although, the Bolt hatchback looks like a re-modified Indica, the company is doing justice to the new car by adding in more contemporary features. With edgy styling, exciting headlights, curvaceous body and large interiors, the car adapts a few cues from its previous generation siblings. For sure this is an expected model in the upcoming new India cars 2015

The Bolt will be powered by a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder turbocharged Revotron Petrol Engine that rates at 75 PS and 145 Nm. The diesel variant will comprise of a 1.3 liter-4cylinder turbocharged Quadra Jet Power Plant that will churn out 75 PS power and 190 Nm torque. Both the engines will be driven by a 5-Speed manual gearbox.


The Expected launch Date of the Tata Bolt is September 2015 and the anticipated price ranges from Rs.5,00, 000 to Rs. 7,00,000/-


2. Maruti Suzuki YRA:

With rumors and a lot of buzz spreading like wild-fire over the internet, the latest news suggests that Maruti Suzuki is bringing out a new hatchback with a codename “YRA”.  Designed to take on competitors like Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz etc, the YRA is definitely good news for Maruti Suzuki Swift lovers.

The YRS carries similar headlamps and bumpers that were found on the successful Swift. Albeit the similarities, this hatchback has a premium look and feel complimented by a different look altogether. The YRA will most likely flaunt the wing mirror. The top end versions of the YRA will get chrome door handles; five spoke alloy wheels, rear wiper and defogger. It will also have larger rear bumper, stylish tail lamp and rear spoiler and a touch screen music system.

The YRA is likely to be powered by a 1.2 liter petrol engine and a 1.3 liter diesel engine. The YRA is expected to make its debut sometime in 2015 at any motor show & there is a huge expectation for this car among the upcoming new India cars of 2015


Although there has been no indication about the price, the car should hopefully snuggle within the 10 Lakh budget.


3. Maruti Suzuki Jimny:

Maruti has been planning to launch the much awaited Maruti Jimny for long. The Jimny is an entry-level SUV that is to be brought on Indian roads. According to Maruti Officials, “the Jimny is to be driven in India due to pathetic performance of its Maruti Gypsy model

The Maruti Jimny is going to grab a pleasing amount of the SUV market share in India. Owing to growing demand for entry level SUV’s, the company hopes to bring this SUV soon. The Jimny will be positioned between Maruti Gypsy and Grand Vitara.

The Jimny SUV will carry a 1.3 liter engine that would have lively performance along with strong fuel efficiency. With 85 PS power under its hood and 109 Nm torque producing capability, this SUV is going to be a great hoff-road machine in India.


The Maruti Jimny is most likely going to carry a price tag ranging from Rs. 5,50,000 to Rs. 10,00,000/- and might make its debut towards the end of 2015.

4. Maruti XA Alpha:

Although Maruti has not really been the popular kind in the compact SUV segment, the company has not lost hope. The XA Alpha concept was show at the 2012 Auto Expo held at New-Delhi and the production version is underway. The XA Alpha will be a sub-four-metre SUV that will be designed specifically for the Indian Market. Styling is going to be the prime focus of Maruti. Taking a hint from Mahindra’s XUV 500, the XA Alpha will have some tricks up its sleeves.


The Compact car is most likely to use Swift’s 1.2 liter K12 Petrol Engine that would comply with Indian government norms. However, Maruti will introduce the all new 1.5 liter diesel engine from Fiat in the XA Alpha’s Diesel variant.

With an estimated price ranging between Rs. 7.5 Lakhs to Rs. 10 Lakhs, the XA Alpha will compete with Ford Eco Sport and Fiat Avventura.

5. Renault Lodgy:

Renault Motors are on a roll in the Indian Market. Having made its presence felt on almost every segment, Renault now wants to enter into the MPV market.  The Lodgy is going to be Renault’s new offering in India. This MOV is a product of the company’s Romanian Subsidiary, Dacia, a company that had also created the popular Duster. The Lodgy is a box shaped MPV that has a 7 seat configuration as well as oodles of space all around. Sticking onto a simplistic design and simple interiors, the Lodgy is to compete with Mahindra Xylo, Nissan Evalia and Toyota Innova.

The Lodgy might be offered only in a diesel variant. The 1.5 liter K9K diesel engine that was found on the Fluence might power the Lodgy as well. The engine will produce 110 PS power along with 240 Nm of torque.


With an expected launch in mid-2015, the Lodgy should carry a price tag ranging from Rs. 7 Lakhs to Rs. 9.50 Lakhs.

6. Mahindra S101:

Mahindra is developing a compact SUV to join its successful lineup. This compact will compete with Ford’s Eco Sport. The vehicle is already under development and carries the code name S 101. With aggressive styling that are most likely to be borrowed from the XUV 500, this compact SUV will be placed along with the Quanto, as the entry-level utility vehicle from Mahindra. The S101 is most likely going to carry a clamshell style bonnet that goes perfectly in line with most modern designs. This vehicle is going to be spacious enough to accommodate 6-7 people.

The S 101 will probably be powered by the same diesel engine found on the Quanto that produces 100 bhp power and 240 Nm torque. The S 101 might also carry the 1.5 liter K9K Renault diesel engine.


Mahindra is aiming at an aggressive pricing. The starting price of the vehicle is most likely going to put the Ford Ecosport to shame. The S 101 is most likely to carry a price tag of Rs. 6 lakh- Rs. 8. 5 Lakh.

7. Ford KA:

The Ford Ka is a new anticipated hatchback from Ford. The car carries the code name B562 and is going to be developed by Ford Brazil, just like Eco Sport. The Ka concept was unveiled in Brazil in November 2013 and shares design cues similar to the European Ford Mondeo. Ford says that the Ka concept highlights “bold design, quality engineering and innovative technologies”, and adds that it will be “a new choice for entry-level urban customers”.

The hatchback will most probably be the first of its kind to roll out from Ford’s Sadanand facility in Gujarat. The KA looks bigger and more spacious than the Figo.

The production version of the Ka will consist of the 1 liter 3 cylinder Eco Boost Petrol Engine. The diesel version will have a 1.4 liter TDCI mill. The Ka might also be positioned as the replacement of the Ford Figo. Chances are that Ford might also position the Ka as a competition to the i20 and VW Polo.


The Ford Ka is most likely going to hit the Indian market in Jan 2015. The Estimated price of the KA would be around 5-7 lakhs.
